Following a ten year stint living, studying and working in Sheffield I returned to my home county in 2014. I have been involved in local radio since the age of 13, when I was the youngest ever presenter to go on air with their own show across the wards of Kettering Hospital on Hospital Radio. During my time there I worked across a number of shows learning a range of presentation skills, even including football commentary with many an afternoon spent at Rockingham Road featuring the Poppies! My real passion when it comes to football though, was and still is Rushden and Diamonds and so when the opportunity came up to work for the clubs radio station I jumped at the chance! I spent three years working on the station before moving to being in charge of match day press for the club. I have also popped up on local stations including Radio Carousel, HFM, Corby Radio and Connect FM doing various bits and pieces for them.
Unfortunately there were limited options to get involved in local radio up in Sheffield, however this is where my other two passions were established. Whilst in Sheffield I worked for Sheffield Theatres – the home of the Crucible and World Snooker! It was during this time that my passion for theatre came to the fore and so you do have to excuse me if you have to suffer my various updates on the latest big show I have been to see! I also worked across various hotels and hospitality settings whilst living up north and this brought about my other passion – food and drink!
Getting involved with NNBC has been a great opportunity to re-ignite my love for local radio and continue to live the dream of making a career in radio (I can live in hope!). Most of all I love being able to talk to the people of Northampton, share stories about day to day life and my passions of the arts, food and drink , football and most of all – OUR community.
I present on a Tuesday and Thursday evening between 7pm and 10pm. On a Tuesday I bring a mix of local chat and great music, plus ‘Love after 9’ which is a whole hour of laid back love songs – perfect to wind you down from your working day! Then on a Thursday it is my favourite night of the week as I bring you our ‘FoodHampton’ feature were we get to talk about the great work of our local food and drink businesses between 7pm and 8.30pm. After 8.30pm we warm up for the weekend ahead with ‘Throwback Thursday’ – think power ballads, one hit wonders and a huge dollop of old school/cheese and your requests are always welcome!
I look forward to sharing your company and hope you will get involved with the shows as your input truly makes the shows what they are.
